Steven Andrew (Andy) Kay, a 44-year Kaneohe resident, died in his sleep on August 24, 2022, age 74. Born in NYC, on July 17, 1948, he was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. An artist, his career spanned early training in dance, followed by work in stage & costume design for ballet and opera, and custom commercial painting for public spaces in a wide variety of media. His principal enjoyment and dedication were teaching art in classes and workshops in Hawaii and in multiple cities on the Mainland, Asia, and Europe. He is survived by his partner of 45 years, Jerry Dupont. Since most of his remaining friends live off the island, a video of the spreading of his ashes and a memorial to his life and work have been mounted on his website. In lieu of flowers, friends might consider a donation to his favorite charity: feedingamerica.org

Our sincere thanks to friends of Andy whose works contributed to the memorial video ----

Sony Ho --- Jiri Kilian & Sabine Kupferberg --- Liu Dan --- Charles Tandy --- Espe Goicolea --- Glenn Grishkoff --- Aristedes Papidas.

Because Jerry does not know or lacks current contact information for, many of Andy’s other friends worldwide, he would greatly appreciate your passing on notice of this online memorial to friends of Andy known to you.

This initial memorial has been mounted on Andy’s website in expectation of the addition of other images displaying his life and work. These sections will be added as materials are assembled and processed. If you would like to receive notification of when these additions have been mounted online, please send a confirmatory e-mail to Andy’s former e-mail address:  andy@zenhallhawaii.com

Thanks and aloha.

Jerry
